Deluxe are not common pets, and they are not legal in Alaska, but I have a few friends who work with them!

They are social rodents that require huge cages with climbing structures, a dust bath sand area, and LOTS of chews.

Degus are diurnal and CAN enjoy human interaction.

Their specific dietary needs, including a high fiber diet low in sugar and fat, require careful planning.

Their potential for diabetes often requires close monitoring by a vet or small animal nutritionist.

Their lifespans are around 7-10 years.
